GARDENS & POOL
Molinuzzo is not over-manicured. The owners enjoy the contrast between the beautiful swimming pool, and the natural pond fed by a stream which supports wild life. The orchard is full of organic apple trees, pears and pomegranates.
The pool is 12m x 6m with a depth of 1.4m to 2.6 and ladders for entry/exit. Open from beginning of May to first week of October.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Situated halfway between Florence and Siena, Molinuzzo must fulfil the dream of what a Tuscan Farmhouse is all about. Situated in its own olive groves and vineyards, at the foot of the pretty medieval town of San Donato in Poggio and within an easy drive of the well know towns of the Chianti Classico wine route including, Radda in Chianti, Castellina in Chianti and Greve in Chianti.
Once a mill, Molinuzzo has been converted to retain all of the character and charm of the old buildings. It is approached down an avenue and stands in the centre of an extensive square of land surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. Beautiful and mature gardens surround the property and have been planted with great swathes of lavender and rosemary to scent the air. A carefully tended swimming pool is surrounded by a paved terrace with tables and chairs offering the chance to dine alfresco. Another terrace by the house offers further possibilities for barbecues.
Within walking distance is a small restaurant. The village of San Donato is also walkable in about 15 minutes taking the route across the fields. San Donato has the usual small shops, bar, pizzeria and a restaurant.
Once a week and usually for a minimum of four people, the owner will offer to prepare a typical Tuscan dinner featuring simple authentic recipes that use locally sourced produce. Each course is served with the wine produced with the grapes of the farm or with other Tuscan wines personally selected by Marzio.
