The Cottage is entered through two large glass doors that lead to a comfortable open plan living area divided into zones comprising a sitting area with little library, a dining area with table and chairs and the kitchen corner with oven, hob, fridge, kettle. From the living room an open staircase - please note there is no hand rail - leads to a galleried mezzanine floor with double bed and en-suite bathroom with shower.
Outside you have a table and chairs for alfresco dining. A gigantic ancient oak tree offers a shady seating area. The apartment has wi-fi.
GARDENS & POOL
The gardens are well maintained and were designed by Willmott Whyte, who specialise in horticultural design throughout the UK and Italy and were awarded the 2012 silver medal and 2013 gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The gardens and swimming pool overlook the wonderful views of the Tiber river and its valley with Mount Soratte in the distance.
The swimming pool with steps for entry/exit 5m x 10m is shared between the two apartments. The swimming pool has sun loungers, parasols and chairs for relaxing in the afternoon sun.

Casa Amaranto is situated just outside the quiet village of Poggio Sommavilla, located in the municipality of Collevecchio. The village was once home to a necropolis from which evidence of human settlements ranging from the 10th century BC to the Roman period have been discovered. The excavations are acclaimed for early Renaissance ceramics to the necropolises shaft tombs, the artefacts from Poggio Sommavilla can be found in museums both in Italy and overseas.
Located to the south of Poggio Sommavilla is Mount Soratte, which can be seen in the distance from the swimming pool of Casa Amaranto. For those who enjoy walking Mount Soratte is located just 15km from Poggio Sommavilla. Home to a nature reserve the mountain has a variety of routes for both beginners and experienced walkers. Monte Soratte offers opportunities to incorporate a beautiful and historical route and to enjoy wonderful views along the way.
Collevecchio, which is approximately 7km away, is a fine walled medieval village in its own right. In the village there are, shops, restaurant, bank, post office, pharmacy and supermarket market. There are many excellent traditional and untouristy restaurants located in this area, providing great food which won't eat into your holiday funds too much.
The charm of this relatively unknown area, with its olive groves and vineyards and its proximity to the medieval and renaissance delights of Italy, makes it a wonderful place for a perfectly relaxing and cultural holiday. In this idyllic location you are within easy reach of the hill towns of Etruria, Umbria and southern Tuscany. Within about a half hours drive are the Sanctuary of Vescovio, the Abbey of Farfa, the Church of S. Andrea in Flumine and the Church of S.Elia Nepi. The natural reserves of Tevere-Farfa, Monte Soratte, Monte Rufeno, Selva dell'Amone and the WWF Oasis of Pian S. Angelo and Alviano with Monti Reatini are within easy reach and offer bird-watching opportunities and hiking.
