KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
The Bossi estate nestles into the hills northeast of Florence, just 20 minutes from the city centre, in the heart of the "Chianti Rufina" area, famous for its wine and olive oil since the Renaissance. The estate has belonged to the Gondi family since 1592 and on its 315 hectares that include vineyards where the grapes are harvested by hand and made into wine in the ancient vaulted cellars and olive groves that produce two types of extra-virgin olive oil of highest quality, including Laudemio.
The holiday cottages here are traditional and full of character and range from the charming little cottage for two that is Rosmarino, with its lovely garden and fine views, to the large spacious villa that is Poggio Martini with six bedrooms including one in its tower with a splendid view of the surrounding countryside. Each of the houses is different, but all are as characteristic as the other. All are comfortably furnished and have gardens, furnished loggia's or terraces where you can sit out and dine alfresco.
Bossi offers an ideal combination of town and country holiday. The estate is set in tranquil, beautiful rolling countryside perfect for walking, fishing or riding. A rather steep lane past the house leads up through woods to a succession of different panoramas and meadows, ideal for picnics! Florence is only 18km away and with the advantage that a good train and bus service runs into Florence city centre from Sieci 4km, you can easily use public transport to avoid the hassle of city parking. Nearby, Pontassieve is a lively and prosperous little town with good restaurants, shops and a flourishing Wednesday market for clothes, household goods and food. Information on local events and facilities is provided at the cantina, located at the main villa.
