With origins dating back to the 14th century, Pomaio is a lovely traditional Tuscan farmhouse that sits on a hill surrounded by verdant countryside and overlooking the valley and the city of Arezzo in Tuscany
The house is part of a 23 hectare organic farming estate. The estate along with its own winery, specialises in using natural organic methods for the production of extra-virgin olive oil, honey, saffron, fruit and vegetables. The winery is placed inside the vineyards in a quiet and sunny position with the farm’s wine cellar at the heart of all the activities. The winery's basement is devoted to the production of wine and winemaking equipment stands in a space where gigantic sandstone boulders form three of the four walls of the room. Besides the scenic effect of the boulders, reminiscent of the ancient Etruscan walls, this ingenious solution helps provide the ideal conditions to age wine. Above the cellar and facing the vineyards, are the areas dedicated to guests and to all those who want to learn and to experience the world of food in Tuscany. Here it is possible to organize wine tastings, events and weddings, meetings, cultural events, cooking classes.
Lying at the heart of the estate, in a peaceful and private position, is the beautiful Tuscan farmhouse Pomaio. The house, situated in its own garden gounds and with its own panoramic swimming pool, is completely independent and private. A post and rail fence runs around the ample garden and the gardens and swimming pool overlook the valley and offer splendid panoramic views of Arezzo.
Arezzo, situated in the south-east of Tuscany and of ancient Etruscan origin, is a magnificent city. The birthplace of many illustrious artists, it has a wealth of interesting museums and churches and a wonderful medieval centre. The cities of Florence, Siena and Perugia along with many pretty historic towns, such as the splendid Cortona (of Etruscan origin), Monte San Savino, San Sepolcro and Anghiari, Pienza, Assisi and Gubbio, along with the beaches, islands and water-sports of Lake Trasimeno, are all easily accessible and within about an hour’s drive.
