Truffle Hunting, Wine and Artisan tour of Le Marche Italy

When you visit Le Marche you will inevitably be struck by the wonderful bucolic landscape, the rich cultural heritage, the historic architecture and the quality of the local produce. But we'd like to help you get under Le Marche's skin, meeting local artisans and experiencing the true flavour of rural life. The region's economy has traditionally been based upon agriculture and the fantastic products made by local artisans. Most of these artisans work for small family businesses that have handed down skills from one generation to the next, many still work by hand and, despite the demands of the global marketplace, there is still relatively little mechanisation. With the help of friends who were born and raised in the area and are extremely passionate about nature and the traditional Le Marche way of life, we are pleased to offer you the following excursions that will allow you to experience and better understand why life here has remained unchanged for centuries.

These excursions can easily be extended by adding one or more of our other activities to this tour - see our cookery courses and A Day in Umbria for further details.

Detailed Itinerary - 3 nights:

Arrival - welcome "degustazione" of local products

On the first day you will arrive at your accommodation for the three nights of the tour, an agriturismo set with the extraordinary backdrop of the Monti Sibillini in Le Marche. On arrival you will be welcomed by your hosts with a tasting of local products and wine. Your accommodation will be a lovely self catering apartment on the estate and you are welcome to use the facilities available on the estate including the swimming pool in season.

Day 1- Truffle Hunting and Cookery Course

Experience a fantastic day truffle hunting with experts and their dogs in local woodland, then take part in a cookery course using your own truffles and sit down and sample local wines and a mouth watering menu based around "your" truffles.

In the morning we will join the truffle hunter and his dogs on their daily truffle hunt in the unspoiled Marche woodlands. Depending on the time of year you will be looking for the following truffles; TRUFFLE BLACK (January - March), WHITE TRUFFLE (September - January), BLACK TRUFFLE Melanospurum (April - September).

After the truffle hunt you will take part in a fantastic & diverting cooking class to discover the genuine, old flavours of the Marche Region. Using fresh seasonal local produce and truffles found during the morning's hunt, you will really get to know the flavours & typical aromas of the marchigiana area. Then sit down to lunch and enjoy the fruits of your labours along with a sampling of some great local wines.

Day 2- Wine Tasting and Artisan Tour

Enjoy a visit to a wine cellar with wine tasting and light lunch then spend the afternoon visiting some of the best local Artisans who still pride themselves on following traditional working practices.

The passion of the people of this beautiful region & the old traditions passed from generation to generation means that now the Marche regions has some wonderful wines. On day 2 your hosts will introduce you to some of the local wines with a trip to the wine cellars. Here you will be given a tour of the cellar, learn about the history and enjoy a wine tasting accompanied by local cold meats and cheeses.

In the afternoon you will visit some of the best artisans of the area...
The shoe shop, for more than 30 years, has made shoes by hand in a small workshop at Force. As soon as you enter, you become aware of the sweet perfume of the real leather and the warm company that only this artisan can offer.

The Art of Cashmere. Weaving with art & professionalism, il Maglificio Santa Lucia of Comunanza has conquered the fashion centres of Florence, Milan, Paris, Madrid, and Moscow with its creations in cashmere; creations that, with pride, they are delighted to show to those who love high-quality woven products.

The fantastic world of weaving threads to make bags of optimum quality. The artisan, Giuseppe at Petritoli has worked for more than 50 years with some of the best brands - Gucci, Prada, Bottega Verde. We will take you to buy directly from him... where it's possible to save up to 300 euro!
