Twelve acres of parkland, with fabulous old trees and mature gardens, provide a perfect backdrop to the Relais Villa Baldelli. The Villa itself, dating from the 17th century, nestles beneath Cortona in the center of what is known as 'the golden triangle' of Tuscany with some of the most important artistic sites in central Italy including Arezzo, Perugia, Siena, Assisi and Florence all being within an hour's drive away.
The Villa baldelli's external architecture remains perfectly preserved as testimony to its 17th century origins with its irregularly placed windows, brick arches and doorways in worked 'pietra serena'. Internally, characteristic chestnut beams, terracotta floors and the colours, patterns and decor combine to create a delightfully intimate hotel with echoes of medieval country life.
The public rooms have been restored with meticulous attention to detail and offer; a well-stocked bar, a welcoming lounge with period furnishings and warmed in the cooler months by the huge original fireplaces, and an elegant dining room for breakfasts and light lunches. Breakfast is served either in the dining room or, in the warmer months, on the terrace in the shade of the ancient trees.
In the well-tended garden grounds the swimming pool, with a panoramic view of Cortona, makes a perfect place to relax and swim.
The fifteen bedrooms are divided between the main house and the dower house. All are different in terms of size, shape and decoration but each and every one of them is elegantly furnished with antique pieces and carefully chosen fabrics which add to the beauty and atmosphere of the Villa Baldelli. All bedrooms have satellite TV, mini-bar, safe and telephone. The en-suite bathrooms have either a bath or shower with hydromassage. All have hairdryers.
The minimum stay is two nights.
