Il Cerro :: Medieval Tuscan village house with access to pool
Il Cerro is a prestigious ancient house situated in the medieval village of Orciatico, in the country land of Volterra, and with a magnificent view of Volterra and the valley of high Valdera from its doorstep. The building, dating from the sixth century, has been restored with total respect to the original architectural style of the building, with cooked stone floors and beamed ceilings, to creating a beautiful Tuscan country house furnished with a mix of antiques and comfortable country furniture.
Here you can enjoy a very Italian holiday, with all the pleasures of being in a spectacular countryside setting in the heart of the picturesque medieval village of Orciatico. Orciatico, was in the past a Longobard castle, part of the defence system protecting the western part of Tuscany. Today it is where you will find a typically Tuscan and very good little restaurant, a few small shops and the village café/bar. A larger supermarket, various shops, bank, pharmacy etc. are located at Lajatico and La Sterza, both within a five to ten minute drive.
Il Cerro's location also makes it ideal for exploration and sightseeing, with the art cities of Pisa, Siena, Florence and Lucca all within about an hour's drive. Closer to home you have the wonderful Etruscan town of Volterra with an excellent choice of restaurants and some very good shopping facilities. For those who like to feel some sand beneath their feet, the seaside and beaches are also within an hour's drive.
A panoramic terrace makes an ideal setting for those that enjoy alfresco dining and for those who care to take a daily swim or just relax round a pool, the facilities for guests include the use of the swimming pool (15m x 7m) in Il Cerro San Francesco situated just 2km down the road from here. Mountain-bikes, a barbecue terrace, a garden of 5000 sq.mts, a washing machine and a TV lounge with SAT TV are also available at Il Cerro S. Francesco and guests are invited to make use of these facilities if they wish.
Accommodation
Beautifully furnished and full of character with its cooked stone floors, ceilings with stones and chestnut axes and the thick stone walls. Besides adding prestige to the building, these features also guarantee very comfortable temperatures even on the warmest summer days. On the ground floor you enter into a large comfortably furnished living room with fire-place and double-bed-sofa. Large well-equipped dining kitchen (oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge), french doors from the kitchen lead out onto to a panoramic terrace with table and chairs and BBQ for alfresco dining. WC. A stair from the living room leads up to the first floor and a second living room with single sofa-bed and lovely views over the surrounding countryside. Spacious double bedroom with lovely views. Twin bedroom, again with excellent views. Bathroom with shower.
Guests here are invited to share the facilities and swimming pool at Il Cerro San Francesco, located just outside the village at 2km.

Security Deposit
