Tetti Marquet :: Traditional 'Tufa' cottage with Private Pool near Lake Bolsena

Situated in lovely countryside on the borders of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio Lazio, Tetti Marquet sits in a strategically rich position just 10 minutes north of Lake Bolsena. Bordered to the north by Tuscany and to the east by Umbria, the area is a land of gently rolling countryside, volcanic craters that gave rise to the beautiful freshwater lakes of Bolsena and Vico, thermal pools and medieval hilltop villages; Pitigliano, Sorano, Civita di Bagnoregio, Orvieto, Montefiasone and Tarquinia, to name but a few.

Lake Bolsena and Bisentia Island in ItalyThe Lake of Bolsena lies within the northern part of the province of Viterbo, also called Alto Lazio or Tuscia, and provides beaches for lazing and picnics, a wide range of water sports, spectacular scenery and three thriving little towns; Bolsena, Marta and Capodimonte. Bolsena, on the northern shore, has a museum full of Etruscan relics, a fine medieval castle, picturesque alleys and two early churches. Marta and Capodimonte, on the southern shores, are pretty little towns with beaches, and from where you can organise boat trips around Isola Bisentina (pictured).

To the south is Viterbo, with its papal palace from the middle ages, and the Tarquinian necropolis. To the west, Sorano and Pitigliano (pictured), of medieval importance and interest, are picturesquely striking up on their hills. The approach to Pitigliano in particular, especially from the road coming up from Manciano and Rome, is one of the most spectacular sights anywhere in Italy. Rounding the last curve you are confronted by a wall of medieval stone houses that seem carved out of the tufa rock cliffs on which the town rests.

For gastronomic delights and local specialities the area is a treat for the tastebuds: various lake fish in the villages around lake Bolsena, mushrooms at Vetralla, chestnuts at Soriano al Cimino, beef steak at Monteromano, wine at Montefiascone and many, many more! The beaches of the Maremma can be reached in under an hour and Rome, Siena and Florence are all accessible for day trips.

A holiday at Tetti Marquet is to experience a taste of the old Italy and an extremely laid-back way of life whilst having some of the finest old towns and a wealth of sightseeing opportunity almost from your doorstep. The owner lives on the estate in a separate cottage with her little dogs and a couple of cats.

Accommodation

Tetti Marquet comprises two traditional 'tufa' cottages, Scuderia and Porcialaia. The cottages sit side by side, near to the swimming pool, and when rented together form accommodation that sleeps 6/7 persons with private pool.

The larger of the two comprises of a very spacious and comfortable living/dining room with open fireplace, sofa-bed, television and CD player. Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, oven and hob, fridge/freezer and microwave oven. Utility room with washing machine. Double bedroom with antique furniture and en-suite bathroom with shower. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower. Wide hallway with bookshelves and a good selection of books in English and Italian, door to spacious furnished 'terrazzo' tiled terrace that overlooks the pool and the fields beyond.

The little cottage next door is also built in the local 'tufa' stone and features inlaid fossils which form part of the stone work. This cottage is ideal for a couple and with it's covered furnished terrace, complete with a large dining table and chairs (big enough for 10 people) and sitting area with wicker chairs and table, it serves as an excellent extension to the living arrangements when both cottages are rented together. Entrance into this cottage is from this terrace into an open plan room with double bed, a suitably equipped kitchen corner and a separate bathroom with shower.

Both houses are comfortably furnished and with central heating are available for rent at any time of year.

Grounds

The cottages both open onto their own wide sunny terraces furnished with tables and chairs for dining alfresco. The swimming pool is situated in the grounds to the side of the Scuderia. There are plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas and just beyond pools terrace is a table tennis table.

Also in the grounds is a well stocked vegetable garden where guests can help themselves to seasonal produce. Fig trees around the property produce a bountiful supply of sweet ripe fruits in July and September, they are especially good to eat along with the local wines and delicious pecorino cheeses.

Traditional Tuscany are pleased to be able to offer the possibility of flexible start days (excluding Sunday's) and rental periods at Tetti Marquet, meaning that you could book a 10 day holiday starting on a Wednesday and departing on a Saturday for example. Security Deposit
On arrival you will be asked for a security deposit of €250, payable in cash. The security deposit will be returned to you at the end of your rental.

Arrival Times
Arrivals expected between 16.00 - 19.00 hrs. If you are going to be late, you MUST advise us or the owner/keyholder in advance. Property to be vacated no later than 10.00am on day of departure.
