Situated in the magical landscape of the Valdisieve valley just 30 minutes east of Florence in Tuscany, the villa of Colognole and the traditional surrounding farmhouses create an idyllic rural holiday retreat. Here you can enjoy the peace and harmony of Colognole's surroundings, with splendid views on the hills that slope gently down to the river with an alternating pattern of olive groves, vineyards, fields of wheat, sunflowers and ancient woodlands.

The estate has been in the Conti Spalletti family since the end of the 1800's, and from the earliest years the family focused its efforts on viticulture. The winery lies in the heart of the Chianti Rufina DOCG and concentrates on producing wines of true greatness that are exported to all of the major countries of the world. Accommodation on the estate focuses on the lovely old traditional Tuscan farmhouses that have been renovated to provide comfortable and characteristic self catering accommodation along with four Bed and Breakfast rooms that are conveniently located next the the restaurant where breakfast is served.

All the houses preserve their rural but elegant style, central heating is available throughout all of the rental properties, making them suitable not only in the summer months but also for holidays during the cooler months of the year. Here you can enjoy splendid views of valley, rivers, vineyards and olive groves, relaxing by the swimming pool, sampling the local dishes produced in the restaurant, strolling the hiking trails which cover the estate, as well as arranging for tastings of the wines and olive oil produced on the estate.

Colognole is also ideally located for taking advantage of the wide range of cultural opportunities, with Florence, the Chianti region, San Gimignano, Siena, and Arezzo all being within easy reach. From here all of Tuscany's important cities can be reached within an hour or two. The town of Rufina, just a few kilometres away, offers frequent trains to the city centre of Florence, just 30 minutes away. 

The restaurant, Il Colognolo, is conveniently located inside the estates small medieval hamlet and is the preferred choice of guests at the agriturismo and the bed and breakfast. The restaurant serves traditional Tuscan cuisine relying on in-season locally sourced produce and the wines of Chianti Rufina amongst the offerings on a meticulously chosen wine list. From its terrace, which faces south, guests are treated to a superb view over the Valdisieve; on crisp, clear evenings, it is possible to see as far as the hills of the Chianti region.

Accommodation

This ancient 17th century villa is located in the centre of a little village. The front of the villa opens onto a small garden, where there is a barbecue corner. Furnished with period furniture, brickwork floors and beamed ceilings the villa has three apartments; Grappolo sleeps 6 (two double bedrooms); Acino sleeps 4 (one double bedroom ) and, accessed by a stone staircase, Vinacciolo sleeping 2 (a studio apartment). For larger groups the entire villa can be rented and opens up into a wonderfully large house. The swimming pool (8m x 14m), with changing room and showers, is a stones throw away.

Security Deposit

Arrivals expected between 16.00 - 19.30 hrs. If you are going to be late, you MUST advise us or the owner/keyholder in advance. Property to be vacated no later than 10.00am on day of departure.
