Estate Overview

 

With its origins dating back to the 15th century, Fattoria di Maiano is situated in an elevated position above Florence and enjoys panoramic views over the countryside between Fiesole and Florence.

The estate covers an area of nearly 300 hectares and agriculture is completely organic with the land mainly used for growing olives (20.000 olive trees on 110 hectares). Frantoio and Moraiolo olives are picked entirely by hand in the months of November and December and pressed in the estate's mill. The premium product is Laudemio, an excellent extra virgin oil with a high nutritional value.

Accommodations are offered in lovely traditional Tuscan holiday apartments located within the estate. Originally, these apartments were rustic homesteads and former convent buildings. Recently renovated, and paying particular attention to the architectural style, these apartments have been restored to recreate the authentic Tuscan country style in terms of ambience, peace and panoramic views.

During the summer months at Fattoria di Maiano, guests can enjoy the lovely swimming pool that is located in the gardens of Fattoria. Nestled next to an olive grove, the gardens and pool overlook, what can only be described as, a truly stunning view on the surrounding countryside. The Fattoria di Maiano also offers guests a programme of activities to choose from: the teaching farm, cooking classes, art and restoration class, Villa di Maiano and Olive Mill guided tours and tastings and discovery tours of Tuscany.

In the very heart of Fattoria di Maiano you will find the 15th century Chiostro (cloister) and the impressive fresco Madonna della Misericordia by Spinello Aretino. Next to the cloister is the Sala del Convitto, the former convent refectory and Sala Olivaia, an ancient olive storage room. The two halls and the cloister are now settings for business meetings, parties, anniversaries and food and olive oil tastings. They are also the stage for Stagioni in Fattoria - Fattoria di Maiano music and theater festival.

In the middle of the estate is Lo Spaccio, the delicatessen shop, a corner of delightful flavours where you can sample and purchase typical Tuscan delicatessen products. The shop, with its panoramic terrace and cosy rooms is open everyday from 09.00h and is also a place where you can have breakfast and lunch. A very good restaurant is also located within walking distance at 250m.

Security Deposit

On arrival you will be asked for a security deposit of €150, payable in cash. The security deposit will be returned to you at the end of your rental.

Arrival Times

Arrivals expected between 16.00 - 19.00 hrs. If you are going to be late, you MUST advise us or the owner/keyholder in advance. Property to be vacated no later than 10.00am on day of departure.
