Estate Overview

This beautifully restored ancient hamlet with four apartments is set on a hill which offers one of the most superb views of the Farfa River Valley. Within walking distance of the sleepy medieval village of Casaprota the location was used in the past as the “aia” (threshing floor) of the village; the place where the peasants gathered to clean wheat and to bake bread in a still working brick oven.

Like many of the old farms in this area, the land was abandoned and left in a state of disrepair for years. In 1980, the current owners restored this land with a passion and care to the original beauty which recalls the vanished landscape of the Roman countryside.

This rural paradise is a ten hectare private parkland of olive groves, orchard of cherry trees and oaks down to the river Montenero. The land is farmed using natural organic methods for the production, since 1864, of extra-virgin olive oil (join in the olive harvest October-December), cherries (ripe for the picking in June!) and vegetables. Colle Cesoni’s first class agricultural production is the gold and fragrant extra virgin  olive oil with its EU DOP recognition.

The walk, linking the apartments to the pool, is lined with cherry trees. The olive groves are surrounded with borders containing typical Mediterranean plants and shrubs such as rosemary, lavender, herbs and numerous wild flowers. The nearby woods are oak and ideal for walks whilst offering the opportunity for mushroom picking in the autumn.
Wine and olive oil tasting events are held in the owners little restaurant by arrangement.

At Colle Cesoni you can enjoy relaxing holidays amid enchanting scenery, in an exceptionally quiet countryside setting. Each of the houses is independent from the other, comfortable and decorated in an elegant way with a collection of country antiques in total respect of the more traditional Sabine style. For sightseeing, you will be in an ideal location for exploring widely. To the south Rome is just a 45 minute drive. To the west, Viterbo, Vulci and Tuscania with interesting Etruscan tombs. Orvieto should not be missed with its underground necropolises and arguably the most beautiful gothic cathedral in Italy.

Estate Overview :: Accommodation

There are four apartments here, Pergola, Portico and mangiatoia can interconnect to provide a large independent house which will sleep up to 8 people. Forno is a little independent cottage that sits in its own garden but equally well sits close enough to the other property to make it convenient for a group of 10 people to rent the entire place. Additionally, sofa beds in Pergola and Forno can be utilised on request and will provide beds for a further 4 people.

Grounds

The houses have a private furnished gardens equipped with tables and chairs and barbecue grill. The views from Colle Cesoni are panoramic and spectacular and the exposure to West provides a clear and vivid view of the Sunsets.

When the swallows are flitting around and the buzzard performs a ritual aerial spectacular display the magic is complete... the view of the sunset is simply stunning!

Pool details

The swimming pool is located just beyond the cherry orchard and is set in an elevated position, with superb panoramic views of a magnificent hilly landscape and the sunset. It is surrounded by olive threes and a large paved terracotta terrace where umbrellas, deck chairs and loungers are situated. The pool is 9.5m x 4.5m at a depth of 1.4m to 1.6m and the pool has steps for entry/exit. At the pool night-lights, outside shower facilities, toilet and washing facilities are at the disposal of the guests. The pool is filtered, but not heated and open 28 May to 30 Sepember.

Apartment prices are based on two people sharing. Extra beds/sofa beds can be provided on request and for each additional person a charge of £110 per week will apply in Portico and Mangiatoia and £160 per person for Forno and Pergola.

Security Deposit

On arrival you will be asked for a security deposit of €150, payable in cash. The security deposit will be returned to you at the end of your rental.

Arrival Times

Arrivals expected between 16.00 - 19.30 hrs. If you are going to be late, you MUST advise us or the owner/keyholder in advance. Property to be vacated no later than 10.00am on day of departure.
