Estate Overview

In a haven of tranquility surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and fabulous views, this little hamlet, restored by Riccardo and Nicoletta Franconeri, is situated on one of the most beautiful hills above Greve in Chianti. The apartments, each with private entrance, have been recreated from two ancient buildings dating from the 12th century. Careful consideration has been paid to the quality of the restoration work in order to preserve the regional style and original features of the buildings, whilst offering comfortably furnished accommodation. Ideal for couples seeking a quiet holiday retreat, the houses here have direct access to established garden areas with tables and chairs for guests wishing to sit out and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Mezzuola or for dining alfresco. An excellently positioned swimming pool with stunning views across the valley is set out just below the apartments. The location of Mezzuola between Florence and Siena makes it an ideal base from which to explore the numerous towns and villages of the Chianti region. Greve, the chief town of the Gallo Nero region, is home to Chianti's largest wine fair, held every September. The small village, named after the nearby river, expanded considerably during the 14th & 15th centuries, and after the unification of Italy became the most important centre of the valley. Today you will find a wine shop around every bend, with some of the better ones being found in the Piazza Matteotti. Greve, is celebrated for its arcaded, funnel-shaped Piazza del Mercatale with a statue of Giovanni di Verrazzano in its centre. Recently restored and only 1km west of Greve is the ancient village and castle of Montefioralle, an interesting place with its octagonal walls, old tower houses, and two Romanesque churches - Santo Stefano, housing early Florentine paintings, and the porticoed Pieve di San Cresci a Montefioralle.

Security Deposit

Arrivals expected between 16.00 - 20.00 hrs. If you are going to be late, you MUST advise us or the owner/keyholder in advance. Property to be vacated no later than 10.00am on day of departure.
