The position of Carbonaia offers the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of holiday experiences with the main art cities, beaches and sporting opportunities all being so accessible. It is bound to appeal to those who are seeking a peaceful rural retreat whilst allowing for the possibility for some serious sightseeing. Surrounded by olive and fruit trees, where you can pick your own cherries and plums in season, Carbonaia is a gorgeous 15th century Tuscan farmhouse with spectacular views, located just 3km from the picturesque town of Vinci and the home of Leonardo da Vinci which has been transformed into a museum.

The family estate specialises in the production of olive oil, Chiant wine, jams and honey. The family (Simone with his wife Donatella, his brother Luigi and their 5 children) pride themselves on using only organic farming techniques, working in harmony with nature following the protocols of the ICEA. In November there are special weekends available when you can join the family for the olive harvesting and watch the traditional first cold pressing of the olives.

In 1998, the farmhouse was renovated into 7 comfortable apartments with modern kitchen and bathrooms. The swimming pool is surrounded by pretty gardens and offers splendid views of the hills dotted with churches and villas. Prized mineral water from nearby Romito spring flows from the taps of Carbonaia. The apartments have their own furnished garden areas whilst interiors are comfortably furnished and finished in a typical Tuscan style; cotto floors, beamed ceilings and whitewashed walls.

The property has a 7m x 14m swimming pool, barbecue facilities and all the apartments benefit from central heating, satellite TV and telephones. The closest basic shop, selling a little bit of everything including its famous home baked bread, is about 1km from the property and the town of Vinci with all facilities is 3km.

Accommodation

Ground floor apartment with good views over the surrounding counrtyside: Open plan living/dining room with double sofa bed and kitchen area separated from the living room by a low wall (hob, microwave oven and fridge). The living room has iron pillars that hold the first floor galleried bedroom, accessed from an open wooden staircase. The gallery is complete with double bed, single bed and bathroom with shower. Satellite TV, Telephone.

Large, well kept grounds with fruit and olive trees. Plenty of space to wander and enjoy the countryside.

Security Deposit

On arrival you will be asked for a security deposit of €150, payable in cash. The security deposit will be returned to you at the end of your rental.

Arrival Times

Arrivals expected between 15.00 - 19.00 hrs. If you are going to be late, you MUST advise us or the owner/keyholder in advance. Property to be vacated no later than 10.00am on day of departure.
