These pages are especially useful for family groups who are perhaps looking for one or two apartments on a larger estate, for couples who are looking for smaller estates with only two or three properties maximum or for larger parties who are perhaps planning a reunion or wedding.

Estate Overview

Carbonaia offers the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of holiday experiences with the main art cities and beaches of Tuscany within easy reach and some great sporting opportunities all being so accessible. Surrounded by olive and fruit trees, where you can pick your own cherries and plums in season, Carbonaia is a gorgeous 15th century Tuscan farmhouse with spectacular views, located just 3km from the picturesque town of Vinci and the home of Leonardo da Vinci which has been transformed into a museum. The family estate specialises in the production of olive oil, Chiant wine, jams and honey. The family (Simone with his wife Donatella, his brother Luigi and their 5 children) pride themselves on using only organic farming techniques, working in harmony with nature following the protocols of the ICEA. In November there are special weekends available when you can join the family for the olive harvesting and watch the traditional first cold pressing of the olives.

In 1998, the farmhouse was renovated into 7 comfortable apartments with modern kitchen and bathrooms - prized mineral water from the nearby Romito spring flows from the taps at Carbonaia so no need for bottled water here! The swimming pool is surrounded by pretty gardens and offers splendid views across hills dotted with churches and villas. The apartments have their own furnished garden areas whilst interiors are comfortably furnished and finished in a typical Tuscan style; cotto floors, beamed ceilings and whitewashed walls. The closest basic shop, selling a little bit of everything including its famous home baked bread, is about 1km from the property and the town of Vinci with all facilities is 3km.

Grounds

Casa Carbonaia is a very typical totally renewed Tuscan country house lying on a fully panoramic hill at 305mts above the sea level. The property extension is over 60 hectares of fields and woods and its typical produce is wine, olive oil and jams fully realized through an organic process. There is ample opportunity to sit and enjoy a glass of fine wine in the Tuscan sun, whilst admiring the wonderful views.

Security Deposit

On arrival you will be asked for a security deposit of €150 payable in cash. The security deposit will be returned to you at the end of your rental.

Arrival Times

Arrivals expected between 15.00 - 19.00 hrs. If you are going to be late, you MUST advise us or the owner/keyholder in advance. Property to be vacated no later than 10.00am on day of departure.
