The Santa Cristina estate is surrounded by rolling countryside, olive groves and wide sloping vineyards. These noble surroundings, where small-hold farming still prevails, offer the prefect backdrop for relaxing in the large swimming pools or on the English lawns of this well-appointed estate. Sport lovers may also play five–a side–football or tennis in a new synthetic grass court that is for the exclusive use of Santa Cristina's guests.

On this very Italian wine and olive oil producing estate, the rental accommodation comprises of four villas; Villa Domitilla, Villa Sveva, Villa Laurentia and Villa Mary. Villa's Laurentia and Mary are completely independent with private pools whilst Domitilla and Sveva is a large semi-detached house that when rented as a whole provides accommodation for up to 16 people or independently each provides accommodation for 8, the pool is shared between the two houses.

The villas are situated on the cusp of a hill immersed in 100 hectares of private, family-owned land. The Agriturismo Santa Cristina, in fact, is a part of a large farming estate belonging to one of the oldest aristocratic family in the Sabina. The land is farmed in three distinct crop areas of wheat, olives and vines and indeed, a notable red and white wine is produced as well as a formidable extra virgin olive oil.

Etruscan and Roman antiquities have been discovered all over the estate and during World War II, the German army used the main family home as a hospital. The four vacation villas offered for holiday rentals were rebuilt from an original 1930s style copied from similar properties designed by the owner's father, Count Valentino Orsolini Cencelli, in the Pontine Marshes area south of Rome. In fact, he is well known in Italy's recent history for having been the one who 'drained' the marshes area which Julius Caesar and many Popes had wanted to complete.

Accommodation

A 'Welcome pack' is provided for all guests on arrival. This includes a bottle of our own estate wine and extra virgin olive oil, milk, water, bread, butter, eggs, biscuits, salt, sugar, tea, coffee, jam.

Maps, guide books and local travel routes are privided in each villa for your consultation. There is also a 'Guest book' with additional information.

Grounds

Each villa has a large private garden, with a pergola framed furnished terrace, mainly laid to lawn. The swimming pools all have a surrounding terrace paved in terracotta where umbrellas, deckchairs, loungers and armchairs are situated. The tennis court, 5-aside football pitch and ping pong may be used at the estates Agritourism building, approximately 300m from the villa's.

Magliano Sabina is 4kms away and features bars, a chemist, bakers, butchers, supermarket, banks with cash points (ATMs), post office, photographers, toy shop, clothing stores and ice-cream parlour. There's even a small theatre.

A local grocery store selling home-made products and locally-culled meat is only 1500mtrs from the estate and a small supermarlket is just over 3kms away.

A handy pizzeria is 500m away and a locally renowned restaurant is 1500mtrs away.

The famous “Cantina dei Colli Sabini” where you can taste and buy the estates own wine and oil is 3km away.

Security Deposit

On arrival you will be asked for a security deposit of €250, payable in cash. The security deposit will be returned to you at the end of your rental.

Arrival Times

Arrivals expected between 16.00 - 19.30 hrs. If you are going to be late, you MUST advise us or the owner/keyholder in advance. Property to be vacated no later than 10.00am on day of departure.
