DRIVING IN ITALY - NOTES
- A full driving licence is required and the minimum driving age is 18 years.
- You must have your licence with you at all times while driving.
- Use of hand-held mobile phones (without ear phone) is also prohibited while in motion!
- Americans must have an International Driving Licence.
- Seat belts must be worn at all times.
- Except for infants in front infant seats, children under ten must not travel in front seats.
- A red warning triangle should be carried in case of breakdown (this equipment is included in your rental car).
- Carry personal identification such as your passport with you.
- You must also carry with you proof of insurance for the car.
- If you plan to drive your own car it is advisable to have a ‘green card’ from your insurance company
- It is obligatory to keep your lights on at all times except when driving in city centres.
